Traffic Advisory

The annual Caribbean Festival will be celebrated in the City of Boston this weekend. We want those who live in the neighborhoods impacted by these events, as well as those attending, to know what to expect and what is expected of them. There have been changes from prior years. The City of Boston Transportation Department

The Boston Police Department is issuing a traffic advisory for the Maverick Square area of East Boston tonight, Saturday, July 4, 2026. To ensure public safety amid exceptionally high pedestrian traffic celebrating the Independence Day holiday, temporary vehicular traffic restrictions and localized road closures will be implemented starting at 6:00 PM tonight. Impact and Restriction Details:

July 4th Celebration Parking restrictions will be in place to accommodate the July 4th celebration event on the Esplanade. Road closures should be anticipated. BPD closes Beacon Street from Arlington Street to Hereford Street usually around 7:00 p.m. Charles Street also closes for the dispersal, and the closure is from Charles Circle to Boylston Street. 

​Traffic Advisory: Starting Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 10 PM – 6 AM, the following street closures will be in effect: Circuit Drive (from Blue Hill Avenue to Morton Street), Franklin Park Road, Talbot Avenue (from Blue Hill Avenue to Bernard Street) and Old Road (from Glenway Street to Columbia Road).

Circuit Drive in Dorchester will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 11:45 PM to 3:45 AM. Please use an alternate route. 

Traffic Advisory: For the June 16 match between Norway and Iraq at Boston Stadium, the MBTA will implement a Traffic Management Plan that closes Summer Street from Purchase Street at Dewey Square to Dorchester Avenue at 7 a.m. The street is scheduled to remain closed until 5:30 p.m. Temporary traffic and parking restrictions will be
