Around 1:19PM yesterday, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to the intersection of Berkeley and St. James Streets for a robbery in progress. En route, officers were updated with a description of the suspect as being a white male, in his mid 20s, tall and carrying a white bag.
On scene, officers received information from a witness who reported that he was walking in the area of Boylston and Berkeley Streets when he saw a white male running past him and heard a woman’s voice and saw her running after the white male. The witness stated that he pursued the suspect until he reversed directions and started running towards the South End where he lost him.  At that point, a detail officers who was in the area heard the broadcast of the suspect and saw him enter 140 Clarendon Street. The detail officer placed the suspect in custody and escorted him out of the building where he was met by the witness who told the detail officer that he had been pursuing the suspect.

The suspect was detained and the victim brought to the scene pending a possible identification. The victim positively identified the suspect as the person who snatched her I-Phone from her while she was walking in the area of Arlington St. and Public 438.

The suspect, Christopher A. Chubbuck, 28 of Weymouth was arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery.  After the suspect was transported to the station, officers found the victim’s I-Phone in the cruiser that had been used to transport the suspect.
