Around 12:40PM yesterday, Friday, April 8, 2011, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to 201 South Huntington St. for a breaking and entering in progress.
While en route, officers were provided with a description of the suspect as a white male wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans. While responding, officers observed an individual matching the suspect description walking on South Huntington Street, not too far from the incident. Officers stopped the individual for a threshold inquiry in order to determine if he was connected to the B&E to the car. During the stop of the suspect, officers performed a pat frisk of the suspect and discovered a rock in his pocket. The suspect was detained and the witness who had called 911 responded to the suspect’s location and positively identified him as the person who had broken into the car.
Officers canvassed the area and located a GPS on the ground outside of 361 South Huntington Avenue which the owner of the car confirmed had been in her car when she parked it.
The suspect, Joyce P. Barry, 51 of Malden was arrested and charged Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and Larceny from a Motor Vehicle.
