On Monday, September 27, 2010, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to Bishop Joel Smith Way after hearing what sounded like the sound of gunshots.
Officers, who were on Washington Street immediately, responded to Bishop Joel Smith Way which is a one-way street and there observed a car backing up the one-way at a high rate speed. The car was stopped and officers learned that the occupants were indeed the victims and they had been fired upon by a car that continued down the street and fled the scene.
The car was secured and ballistic evidence retrieved from the car. Based on investigation, officers were able to get a description of the car that had fired the shots and broadcast a description of the car to units. Yesterday around 1:45PM, a detail officer who was traveling on River Street near Old Morton street observed the broadcast suspect motor vehicle and notified operations of its location and plate number. Officers responded to the scene and were able to secure the car and its two occupants who had pulled into a nearby gas station. The occupants were taken to District B-2 for interviews and the car secured pending issuance of a search warrant.
One of the parties in the car, William Turner, 23 of Roxbury was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Discharging a Firearm within 500’ of a Dwelling and Malicious Destruction of Property after interview of the two occupants of the car revealed that the suspect was the one who fired the shots at the victims the day before.
