Gun Toting Suspect Arrested after Trying to Sell GunLast night around 7:14PM, officers from District B-2 responded to the intersection of Blue Hill Ave. and Quincy St. in response to a call for a man with a gun. Officers received a description of the suspect, his clothing along with the description of his companion.
On arrival, officers observed both described individuals at the stated location and specifically noted that the alleged armed male appeared to be under the influence of either drugs and alcohol and was sitting at the bus stop with both hands at his waistband under his un-tucked shirt. Officers as a result of the call and the positioning of the suspect asked him several times to show his hands and he refused to do so. Based on the call, the positioning of the suspect and his failure to comply with orders to show his hands, officers decided to conduct pat frisk of the suspect and his companion.
During the pat frisk of the alleged armed suspect, officers felt something consistent with the shape and feel of a gun. Further investigation of the object in the suspect’s waist revealed it to be a loaded semi-automatic firearm. The suspect, Manuel C. Birch, 27, of Chelsea was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition after he exclaimed to officers, “The gun is not mine!” when they demanded to see his License to Carry.
During further investigation of the incident, officers learned that he suspect had been walking around the bus stop displaying the firearm and offering it for sale.
Death Investigation at 14 Wilmore Street in Mattapan
This morning at approximately 2:04AM, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to 14 Wilmore Street in Mattapan for a shots fired call.
On arrival, officers located a twenty year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center by ambulance with life threatening injuries. The victim was subsequently pronounced after his arriving at the hospital.
The Boston Police Department homicide Unit is actively investigating the facts and circumstances of this incident. “Operation Community Trust” Improves Quality
of Life for Blue Hill Ave. Residents
In response to ongoing community complaints from residents of the Blue Hill Ave. and Grove Hall area about prostitution and other quality of life issues, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) and Probation Officers from Roxbury District Court conducted Operation Community Trust to address some of the regular complaints which primarily deal with prostitution, drug use and drug dealing.
During this operation, plain-clothes officers were flagged down by the below noted suspects and offered sex in exchange for monetary compensation and subsequently arrested for Prostitution: Soliciting Sex for a Fee.

3. Linda F. Wynn, 54, of Boston
4. Patricia Monroe, 49, of Dorchester

The suspects will appear at Roxbury District Court on Monday, September 22, 2008 to answer to these charges.
