At about 7:50am, on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for a burning dead cat at 204 Princeton Street. On arrival, officers observed the Boston Fire Department already on scene. Officers also observed burn marks and a broken window on the first floor of the above address. Witnesses say that they observed a white male, in his early 20’s, approach the house and throw what appeared to be a burning object at the residence. Witnesses said the suspect was last seen fleeing the area.On Friday, June 22, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) arrested Luigi Epifania, 23, of East Boston, on an outstanding warrant unrelated to the above incident. Nevertheless, detectives from Area A-7 had received information linking Epifania to the above cat-burning incident. As a result, Epifania was questioned about his involvement and he confessed to the crime. Officers charged Epifania with the Malicious Killing of a Domestic Animal and Arson.
