39 MAYWOOD STREET TRIPLE SHOOTING CLAIMS ONE LIFEOn Tuesday February 13, 2007, at 6:09 pm, officers from B-2 responded to a radio call for shots fired at 39 Maywood Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers located three males on the ground suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. A fourth victim suffered from a broken arm that resulted from an attempt to flee the scene.
The victims were rushed to area hospitals. One victim, who was transported to Boston Medical Center, was pronounced shortly upon arrival. Two additional victims were transported to Boston Medical Center and a fourth victim was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. A second gunshot victim remains in critical condition. The third gunshot victim is considered non-life threatening.
Boston Police issued a radio broadcast with a description of a suspect vehicle witnessed leaving the scene. An officer quickly spotted a vehicle matching that description and conducted a traffic stop on Blue Hill Avenue. The officer called for assisting units and then approached the vehicle. Officers immediately viewed ballistics evidence inside the suspect vehicle.
In addition, officers observed clothing inside the vehicle consistent with an earlier broadcast of suspect descriptions. As a result, Boston Police officers in conjunction with the Homicide Unit arrested Joseph A. Gomes, 39, of Hyde Park and Emmanuel Dasilva, 22, of Roxbury. Both suspects have been charged with Murder and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Their arraignment at Roxbury District Court is expected today.
