OPERATION DEEP FREEZE ICES DRUG ACTIVITY ON BOSTON COMMON

On February 12, 2007, the Boston Police Department conducted “Operation Deep Freeze” in the Downtown area, focusing primarily on the Boston Common and the Theater District.This operation was undertaken as a means of combating street-level drug activity as part of our ongoing efforts to protect the quality of life for city residents and visitors. Officers succeeded in this operation by deploying officers from District A-1 and the Drug Control Unit in an undercover capacity. In the course of this operation, seven suspects were arrested, one suspect was summonsed to court on charges related to drug distribution, and one missing person was located.
In addition to the above noted, officers were also able to clear three outstanding warrants.
Officers arrested Elisa Cannella, 26, Vargas Santos, 38, and Adan Martinez, 44, all of Boston and charged them with Distribution of Class A and Distribution of Class within 100’ of a Park. Carl M. Woodley, 40, of Boston was arrested and charged with Distribution of Class B, and Distribution of Class B within 1000’ of a School Zone. Suspect, Kenneth Hughes, 34, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Distribution of Class A, and Possession of Class B. Suspects, Tony L. Smith, 38, of Dorchester and Victor Ware, 41, of Boston were arrested and charged with Distribution of Class B, and Distribution of Class B within 1000’ of a School Zone. In addition suspect, Smith was also charged with Resisting Arrest.
