OUI Suspect Arrested After Accident Last night around 8:20pm, a party of a motor vehicle accident approached officers from District 13 at the intersection of Dimock St. and Columbus Ave. The victim reported that his car was sideswiped by another car while traveling on Columbus Ave. Officers spoke to the victim who pointed out the other party to the motor vehicle accident. Officers responded to the other motor vehicle to further investigate the details of the accident. The operator of the other car involved in the accident immediately admitted to officers that he had been drinking and the officer made observation of the operator leading him to believe that he may operating under the influence of alcohol. The operator was asked to perform several sobriety tests to determine his ability to safely operate his car but declined stating “I can’t, I am drunk!” Further observation revealed the operator to have a strong odor of alcohol about him, to have glassy eyes, and slurred speech. Based on those observations, the suspect, Troy Veale, 41, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and transported to the district station. At the station, the suspect consented to a breathalyzer test and submitted samples of more than twice the legal limit.
Three Suspects Arrested with Gun During Drug Surveillance
Lat night around 6:00pm, officers from Citywide Drug Unit arrested 21 year old Robert Grosso, 19 year old Emely Boswell and 21 year old Lamont Boswell, all of Norwood, and charged them with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D, and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws.
Officers were conducting surveillance in the area of Washington St. and Meshaka St. due to a history of drug transactions taking place at that location. There, officers observed a transaction occur between the occupants of three different cars and based on those observations believed that a drug deal had taken place. Officers spoke to occupants of two of the three cars and recovered marijuana just purchased from the occupants of the third car. Officers followed this third car and successfully stopped it in Dedham with the assistance of Dedham and Westwood police. During the stop, officers recovered a loaded firearm in the car along with ammunition. The occupants of the other two cars, who were purchasing the drugs, will be summonsed to court for Possession of class D, and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws.
City Convenience Store Reported Overnight
Officers from District 1, this morning around 3:56am, responded to 23 Beacon St./City Convenience for a breaking and entering call. On arrival, officers were met by Boston University police who initially responded to an alarm call at that location. Officers observed the front glass door pane to be broken and inspected the store for suspect(s) but found none. During further inspection of the store, officers observed some cigarettes and scratch tickets on the floor behind the register but observed no other items to be missing.
