Car Thief Arrested Getting in Stolen CarOfficers from District 2 around 11:30am today, conducting surveillance in the area of St. Alphonsus St. in Mission Hill, observed a car pull up behind their vehicle and the occupant exit. Query of the car’s registration revealed that it had been reported stolen. Officers observed the operator approach another similar vehicle and attempt to enter that car. The operator of the car, unable to enter the similar vehicle, then went back to the stolen car and entered that car. Officers attempted to place the operator under arrest when he placed the car in reverse and tried to flee. Officers were able to successfully stop the operator and place him under arrest. Suspect, Manuel Medina, 46, of Boston was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Attempted Auto Theft, Operating After Revocation and Failure to Stop for Police Officers. The suspect was subsequently found to have a warrant for Theft and Strip of a Motor Vehicle.
Purse Snatch Suspect Apprehended by Motorcycle Officer
About 11:47am today, officers from the Boston Police Mobile Operations Division arrested suspect, Jose J. Santiago, 17 of Dorchester and charged him with Unarmed Robbery, Resisting Arrest and Assault and Battery.
Officers on patrol in the area of Quincy St. and Ceylon St. observed the above suspect accompanied by another male running from Ceylon St. onto Quincy St. The suspect, upon taking notice of the officers, threw a handbag on the ground and continued running. Almost immediately after seeing the suspect running, the officer observed a female, later identified as the victim of an unarmed robbery, running after suspects yelling for assistance. The officer pursued the suspect that had discarded the handbag and eventually stopped the suspect after a lengthy foot chase. During the foot chase, the suspect disregarded numerous directives by officers and vigorously resisted officers’ attempts to handcuff him when he was stopped. The victim’s purse was recovered along with all its contents and returned to the victim.
