Last night at about 10:40pm, after Curt Shilling secured his 200th win, A Boston police officer was performing a traffic detail at the intersection of Boylston Street and Ipswich Street. A block away was a rookie officer who hit the streets only a week ago. The female victim approached the officer, and while pointing to the pair running on Boylston Street, told him that they just stole her purse. The detail officer quickly broadcast a description of the suspects and their direction of flight. With the assistance of the rookie cop, one intersection away, and one other officer, the officers gave chase on foot after the two suspects. One of the suspects was caught behind the McDonald’s parking lot and the other was caught after he scaled a wooden fence in the alley behind the McDonald’s. The officers were able to recover all of the victim’s property and it was returned. According to the victim, she was walking along Jersey Street when the suspects passed her going in the opposite direction. The suspects turned around and approached the victim from behind and confronted her, ripping the purse from her arm before running on foot.
