This afternoon at about 12:18pm, officers from District 2 responded to an address on Cawfield Street in Dorchester on a report of a home invasion. On arrival to the location, the suspect was found in the foyer being held by the victim and a witness. Officers placed him under arrest and transported him to District 2.According to the 49-year-old victim, while at home with his two young children age 7 and 10 the doorbell rang. When he opened the door, he observed the suspect asking if he may use the victim’s bathroom. The victim, who met the suspect a month ago, allowed the suspect into the house. Inside the apartment, the suspect removed a shotgun from a bag, pumped the pump action of the shotgun and demanded money from the victim. The children fled the scene while the victim grabbed the shotgun and began to struggle with the suspect. While struggling with the suspect, the victim was struck several times with the barrel and stock of the shotgun. The fight continued out of the apartment and into the foyer. With the assistance of a witness, the victim gained control of the suspect.
Police arrested Anthony Boyette, 18, of Dorchester and charged him with Home Invasion, two counts of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a Sawed-Off Shotgun, two counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Armed Assault with Intent to Rob or Murder, Armed Assault in a Dwelling, and Intimidation of a Witness. He will be arraigned in the Roxbury District Court on Monday morning.
The victim and his children were all transported to the Boston Medical Center where the victim was treated for minor injuries and the children were evaluated.
