Preliminary Information on Confirmed Carjacking in Downtown Boston

At about 4:22pm, Officers from District 1 responded to One Avenue De Lafayette on a report of a carjacking. On arrival the officers spoke with the victim who states she exited her parked vehicle, which was running, and had her two children inside of it at 80 Bedford Street. Suddenly, a suspect ran toward the driver’s door and pushed the victim away from the car door. The suspect entered the vehicle and fled the scene with both children still in the vehicle. One of the children attempted to remove the keys from the ignition when the suspect slapped her in the face. The children were released from the car a couple blocks away near the Paramount Theatre. One child suffered a minor injury to her face. Police are searching for this suspect who is described as being a black male, about 30 years old, thin build, wearing blue jeans and a navy blue hooded sweatshirt. The suspect is operating the victim’s 1989 Blue Ford Explorer with a sticker of a gold fish on the rear window of the SUV. Details will follow.
