Man Arrested for Cashing Stolen CheckOfficers from District 11 responded to a radio call at 618 Washington Street yesterday for a larceny in progress. Douglas Smith, a 49-year-old Mattapan man, was attempting to cash a check that was flagged as stolen. When the bank manager called the owner of the check, he stated that he never gave it to the suspect. Smith was placed under arrest on Forgery or Uttering charges.
Deliveryman Robbed in Brighton
Last night at approximately 9:40pm, officers received a call for a robbery in progress at 1625 Commonwealth Avenue. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim, a pizza deliveryman who stated he was robbed at the location during a routine delivery. After he entered the residence, an unknown black male placed a hard object against the back of his head and told him to give him all his money and leave the pizza. The victim obliged before leaving the apartment building. Officers went to the apartment that ordered the pizza and questioned the tenant who stated that Darnell Martin, an 18-year-old Dorchester man, was inside. Officers found the suspect inside with money, receipts from the pizza place and a black BB gun. The suspect was transported to District 14 for booking.
19 Year Old Arrested at Paradise Bar
An officer investigating a motor vehicle accident observed a disturbance in front of The Paradise Bar at 967 Commonwealth Avenue early this morning where a group of approximately 10 people were yelling and pushing each other. While the officer spoke to the security, one individual remained belligerent and began screaming at the officer. She was intoxicated, even though she had stamps on her arm, saying she couldn’t drink in the bar for being under 21. The woman, 19-year-old Emily Martinez from Bedford, N.H., was placed under arrest for being a disorderly person. The Paradise Bar received a licensed premise inspection violation for an expired Eating and Drinking permit.
Minnesota Man Arrested for Breaking and Entering
Officers from District 1 responded to a radio call last night around 3:00am for a person with a knife at 20 Prince Street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim physically struggling with the suspect on the street. When the suspect was restrained, the victim reported that the suspect broke into his apartment and was carrying a knife. The victim grabbed a pot and struck the suspect over the head with it, causing the suspect to flee the apartment. The victim followed the suspect outside until the officers arrived. Officers recovered two knives that were on the street and arrested the suspect, Francisco Serrano, a 22-year-old man from Apple Valley, Minn.
ATM Stolen from Dorchester Bar
At approximately 4:15 this morning, officers from District 11 responded to the D Bar on Dorchester Avenue for an alarm sounding. Upon arrival, they observed the rear door wide open with damages done to the lock. When the owner arrived at the scene, he told police that the ATM machine within the bar had in fact been stolen. It contained between $11,000 and $12,000. The incident remains under investigation.
