Boston Police Incidents for January 25, 2006

South Boston Variety Store Robbed at GunpointA masked gunman entered the 3 D’s convenience store at 5:38pm last night, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. The suspect, described as a white male with a muscular build wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black ski mask, took about $200.00 from the register and fled the store. District 6 Detectives are investigating.
Armed Career Criminal Captured with Gun in Roxbury
Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested 24-year-old Lamar Thomas of Marlboro in the area of Intervale Street and Columbia Road at 9:23pm last night. Officers had observed a Lexus driving erratically and before it was stopped Lamar jumped from the car and ran from the officers. Thomas was observed discarding something from his waist area as he ran. After he was apprehended, a loaded 9mm firearm was recovered in the snow. Thomas faces charges of Unlawful Possession of Firearm/Ammunition, Possession of Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number, and Armed Career Criminal for this incident. It should be noted that while this arrest was taking place, officers from District 2 had responded to 105 Lawrence Avenue for a person shot. A 26-year-old female was found inside with an apparent non-life threatening gunshot wound to the back of the leg. She was taken to Boston Medical Center for further treatment. Officers learned that two males showed up at the Lawrence Avenue apartment and an altercation ensued between them and two female victims. One of the males was arrested at the scene; he is identified as Damien Oliveria, 28 of Dorchester. He is charged with Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon after hitting a 21-year-old female victim in the head with a chair. She suffered a laceration to her head and was treated by Boston EMS. Witnesses at the scene identified Lamar Thomas as the shooter in this incident and he was subsequently charged with Assault with Intent to Murder and Armed Assault in a Dwelling.
Gun Recovered After Foot Chase
At 10:45pm an officer from District 2 observed a 2001 Pontiac Grand-AM committing several traffic violations in the area of Quincy Street and Howard Avenue about 10:45pm last night. After initially refusing to stop for the officer, 35-year-old Jody Hargrove of Dorchester drove into the back yard of 47 Wayland Street and jumped from the car. He was quickly caught and a loaded .45 caliber firearm was recovered from the yard. Hargrove is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm / Ammunition, and several motor vehicle violations.
Parking Attendant Hit by Fleeing Cadillac SUV, Two Arrested
At 2:52am this morning officers from District 1 responded to Warrenton Place for a person hit by car. The victim, a 48-year-old male working as a parking lot attendant, told the officers that he was attempting to break up a fight when a white Cadillac SUV struck him. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was stopped on Kneeland Street by a Detail Officer. The driver, 34-year-old Herbert Bonds of Waltham, and passenger, 28-year-old Alexis Martinez of Lowell, were arrested for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident and Reckless Operation. The Cadillac SUV was seized as evidence and towed. Arraignment is today in Boston Municipal Court.
