Armed Robbery Suspect Surrenders in West RoxburyLast night at about 9:00pm, Andrew Wyman, 24, of West Roxbury entered the District 5 police station and surrendered himself to police. Detectives from District 5 had obtained a warrant for his arrest, from the West Roxbury District Court, after he committed an armed robbery on January 13, 2006 at 4415 Washington Street. He will be arraigned this morning.
Two Females Stabbed at Vertigo
Officers from District 1 responded to the New England Medical Center this morning on a report of two 26-year-old females that were being treated for stab wounds. Officers spoke with the victims who stated while on the dance floor of Vertigo, located at 126 State Street, a large fight occurred and both were stabbed multiple times. The victims self applied themselves to the NEMC where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The investigation continues and no arrests have been made.
Sex Offender Arrested in Dorchester
This morning at about 12:30, an officer assigned to District 3 observed a 1998 Mercedes SUV in violation of the auto laws. The officer conducted a traffic stop at Blue Hill Avenue and Stratton Street. Further investigation revealed the operator, Ronald Sims, 27, of Dorchester was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender. He was arrested and will be arraigned this morning.
Armed Suspect Arrested After Foot Chase in Dorchester
Last night at about 9:10pm, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit arrested Joseph Rosa, 19, of Dorchester. Boston Officers observed the suspect in Uphams Corner and attempted to conduct a threshold inquiry. When the suspect observed the officers, he fled on foot grasping his waistband as he ran from the officers. After a lengthy foot chase, a State Trooper and his K-9 “Richter” located Rosa hiding in an alley between 688-690 Columbia Road. The suspect was placed under arrest and a loaded 9mm firearm was recovered. Rosa is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Ammunition and Trespassing. He will be arraigned in the Roxbury District Court this morning.
