Roxbury Officers Recovered a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Austin Tate, 30, of Worcester, on firearm related charges.

About 8:09 PM, while officers were conducting a walk and talk in the area of Harrison Avenue and Dudley Street, they observed a vehicle parked in a No Stand/ No Stop parking zone. The officers conducted a query of the vehicle’s registration which revealed that the license plate did not belong to that vehicle.

As officers were in their patrol wagon writing a parking ticket, an individual was seen getting into the vehicle and driving from the area. At this time, officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

The operator was requested to exit the vehicle as it was going to be towed due to it not being registered properly. A motor vehicle inventory search was conducted and a firearm was located inside. The firearm was determined to be a Tanfoglio E.A.A. Witness with one round in the chamber and fifteen rounds in the magazine.

Tate was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:

–          Possession of a Firearm without an FID card

–          Possession of Ammunition without an FID card

–          Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm

–          Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License

–          Unregistered Motor Vehicle
