Traffic Stop in Roxbury Leads to Arrests and Significant Drug Seizure

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested 32-year-old Kareem Woods and 40-year-old Michelle Arce, both of Boston, on motor vehicle and drug-related charges following a traffic stop near Washington Street and Dudley Street in Roxbury.

At approximately 6:00 PM, officers patrolling Nubian Square observed a vehicle on Taber Street operated by Woods, who was known to have a suspended license. A female passenger, later identified as Arce, was seated in the front passenger seat. A computer query confirmed Woods’ license was suspended.

Officers repositioned their cruiser on Warren Street to conduct a stop. As the vehicle approached, officers noted it took Woods roughly one minute to turn at the intersection without any visible traffic obstruction. By the time the vehicle reached Washington Street, Arce was in the driver’s seat and Woods had moved to the passenger seat.

Officers initiated a traffic stop near 2371 Washington Street. Before officers could exit their cruiser, Woods got out and began walking away. He was immediately placed under arrest for operating with a suspended license.

During the stop, Arce appeared unusually nervous, with trembling hands as she provided her license and registration. Officers observed a black pocket knife within her reach and removed her from the vehicle for further investigation. A search revealed two plastic bags of crack cocaine and one bag of pressed designer pills on her person. A digital scale with suspected cocaine residue was also found in the center console. Arce was placed under arrest.

Both suspects were transported for booking. At Nashua Street Jail, a search of Woods uncovered a large plastic bag concealed in his underwear containing 89 smaller bags and one medium bag of crack cocaine, weighing approximately 62 grams.

Both are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on the following charges:

Kareem Woods

  • Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Trafficking in Cocaine (More than 28 Grams, Less Than 100 Grams)
  • Delivering Drugs to a Penal Institution
  • Issued a citation for Unlicensed Operation and Allowing Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Michelle Arce

  • Possession of Class B (Pressed Designer Pills)
  • Allowing Unlicensed Operation
