At about 12:08 AM, on Saturday, May 4, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Leon Edmonds, 26, of Roxbury, on firearm charges.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Warren Gardens when they heard several loud bangs. At that same time, a shot spotter activation came in with four rounds fired in the area of 15 Dabney Street. Officers observed two individuals in the area, with one of the individuals holding an object in the air with smoke coming from the end of the it. Officers further observed the suspect place the item into his waistband area.
Officers drove their cruiser to where they observed the individuals and saw several spent shell casings behind 7 Dabney Street. Officers canvassed the area for a suspect, and observed an individual running from the area. Officers broadcasted a description of the suspect who then entered an idling motor vehicle, and fled the scene. Officers were able to stop the vehicle in the area of 15 Guild Street, and immediately placed the two occupants into handcuffs.
With the assistance of a Boston Police K9, officers located a firearm from the flight path of the suspect. The firearm was later determined to be a Taurus PTIII Pro with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.
Edmonds was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
The operator of the vehicle was released from the scene.
