At about 6:30 PM, on Saturday, May 4, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Geronnie Pipkin, 25, of Hyde Park, on firearm charges.
Officers responded to the area of 1565 Blue Hill Avenue for a report of a person with a gun. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of a group of individuals and of an individual with a firearm.
Upon arrival, officers observed the group and took notice of three individuals walking away from the area. One of the individuals walking from the area matched the description of the person with a gun. Officers observed one of the individuals to be pinning his arm to his body as he was walking.
Officers approached the group, and conducted a pat frisk of all three individuals. As officers were pat frisking one of the individuals, they recovered a firearm from his left pant pocket. The suspect was immediately placed into handcuffs. The other two individuals were released from the scene.
The firearm was later determined to be a loaded Smith and Wesson Revolver with five rounds. As officers searched the suspect, they also recovered multiple bags of marijuana, consistent with street level packaging.
Pipkin was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession with intent to distribute class D. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
