At about 10:35 PM, on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit from District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Sharae Rankin, 31, of Dorchester, on firearm related charges.
Officers responded to the area of 1911 Dorchester Avenue for a report of drug activity. Officers were advised by Operations that a female suspect had conducted a drug transaction. Upon arrival, officers observed the involved suspect and could see a large folding knife in her pocket. Officers immediately conducted a pat frisk, and recovered a firearm from the suspect’s waistband. The firearm was later determined to be a Ruger SR22 with six rounds in the magazine.
Rankin was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D. She is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
