Co-Operative Effort Leads to the Arrest of Three Suspects for Boston Common Stabbing

On May 3, 2011, around 1:02pm, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Johnnie Bonnie, 18 of Dorchester, Jermaine Gillespie 18 of Boston and a 15-year old male juvenile from Dorchester and charged them with Assault with Intent to Murder, several counts of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.
The suspects were arrested for stabbing an 18 year old victim in the Boston common on April 29 around 5:22pm. On that day, officers responded to the Boston Common near the Park Street MBTA station for a person stabbed. On arrival, officers located an 18-year old male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital suffering from life threatening injuries, but is expected to survive.

At the scene, officers obtained video evidence from the MBTA station and were able to ascertain the identity of the suspects within a few days based on physical evidence recovered, identifications by independent witnesses and witness statements.

Officers then sought and obtained arrest warrants for the three suspects. Armed with these warrants, officers tracked the three suspects to a residence in Dorchester. There, officers formed a perimeter around the house and successfully placed the three under arrest when they attempted to flee out of the back door when officers attempted to make contact via the front door. During the arrest of the suspects, officers recovered a folding knife from one of the suspects.
