Robbery Suspect Caught after Assaulting Victim

Early today around 12:30AM, officers from district D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to the intersection of Commonwealth and Harvard Avenues for a robbery in progress.
On arrival, officers found the suspect at Commonwealth Ave. and Linden St. and he stated that parked his car on Comm. Ave. and was walking toward to go to the McDonald’s when he was approached by the suspect who aggressively tried to sell him some marijuana. The victim declined the suspect’s offer and started walking away when the suspect grabbed him from behind, punched him several and started rummaging through his pockets. The victim at this time started yelling that he was getting and the suspect stopped going through his pockets and walked away down Com. Ave. making a left turn onto Reedsdale Avenue.

Officers broadcast the suspect description, and a few moments a Boston University Police officer observed an individual matching the suspect description. The suspect was detained while the victim was brought to the suspect’s location and there positively identified the suspect saying, “That is definitely him…100% him.”

The suspect, Bruce Thompson, 41 of Boston was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Rob. The suspect was also found with marijuana in his pocket for which he was cited since it was under an ounce.
