POLICE ARREST DUNKIN DONUTS ARMED ROBBER

At about 5:11am, on Thursday, April 7, 2011, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in progress at the Dunkin Donuts at 5 Austin Street in Charlestown. On arrival, officers spoke to store employees who stated that the suspect (a white male in his thirties) approached the counter, displayed a screwdriver and produced a note that read: “Give me a hundred dollars.” When the suspect observed one of the store employees arming himself with a kitchen knife, the suspect fled the store. 
 Approximately fifteen minutes later, at 5:27am, on Thursday, April 7, 2011, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a second call for an armed robbery at the Dunkin Donuts at 99 Cambridge Street in Charlestown. On arrival, officers spoke to store employees who stated that the suspect approached the counter, showed a weapon, jumped the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money from the register. The suspect was described as a white male in his thirties wearing a green hooded sweatshirt. 

Detectives meet with several witnesses from the above incidents and showed them photos of several individuals who may or may not have been involved in the above robberies. After conducting the photo array, detectives were able to establish the identity of the suspect wanted in connection with both incidents.

Officers later located and arrested John Ahearn, 30, of Charlestown and charged him with Armed Robbery.
