CODE 99 (BARRICADED SUSPECT) LANDS ONE IN POLICE CUSTODY

At about 2:10pm, on Thursday, April 7, 2011, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for an altercation in the area of 2953 Washington Street in Roxbury. According to the caller, the suspects (possibly armed) fled into a garage and closed the door prior to police arrival. Officers attempted to make contact with the individuals inside the garage. When officers were unable to establish contact, a Code 99 (barricaded suspect) was declared. A perimeter was established around the location and the Boston Police SWAT Team was called to the scene.
While on scene, two individuals exited the location at separate times. Witnesses identified one of the individuals as the one seen in possession of the firearm. When asked to produce a license to carry the firearm, the individual was unable to do so.

Officers arrested Cory Govan, 40, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
