BIKE THIEF BUSTED IN BOSTON

Over the past month, detectives assigned to Area A-1 (Downtown) had been receiving and monitoring reports relative to a series of stolen bike reports in the area of Beacon Hill and Boston Common.  Detectives spoke to one victim who stated that he believed he saw his stolen bike being advertised for sale on Craig’s List. As a result, detectives located the advertisement and called the person attempting to sell the bike.
On Friday, April 1, 2011, detectives made arrangements to meet the individual attempting to sell the bike. Upon meeting the suspect, detectives confirmed that the suspect was in fact attempting to sell the stolen bicycle as seen on Craig’s List.

Officers arrested Matthew Berry, 30, of Somerville and charged him with Receiving Stolen Property.
