At about 7:30pm, on Tuesday, January, 18, 2011, officers from Area E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at 1064 River Street (Asian Thai Eatery). On arrival, officers spoke to store employees who stated that an individual walked into the store, jumped over the counter and grabbed money from the cashier as she was in the middle of taking payment from a customer. When the suspect attempted to flee the store, the casher, with help from the cooks in the kitchen, grabbed the suspect and held him until police arrived.
Officers arrested Joe Mulhern, 30, of New Bedford and charged him with Unarmed Robbery.
