BOSTON POLICE ARREST MURDER SUSPECT

On Tuesday, January 18, 2011, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Team, in association with the U.S. Marshals and the Rhode Island State Police, located and arrested Lavonrence Perkins, 20, of Boston on a Murder warrant issued out of Dorchester Court. The warrant charges Perkins, who was found in Providence, RI, with the shooting death of Cordell McAfee, 22, of Boston.

On Friday, May 7, 2010, at approximately 6:27pm, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of Dorchester Avenue and Roseland Street. On arrival, officers observed a black male suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced. The victim was identified as Cordell McAfee, 22, of Boston.

The Boston Police Department is especially grateful to all those who worked diligently and cooperatively to bring this suspect into custody especially the detectives and officers assigned to Area C-11 (Dorchester), members of the Boston Police Mobile Operations Patrol, the US Marshalls, Rhode Island State Police, the Suffolk County District Attorney and the Boston Police Homicide Unit.
