Last night around 10:37PM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to 11 Intervale Street in Dorchester to investigate a person in relation to a lost/stolen wallet.
On arrival, officers were met by the victim who pointed out a woman sitting on the front stairs of the address ad recounted the following story. The victim reported that he was carrying some items into his apartment and when he got there noticed that his wallet had fallen. The victim asked the female woman who was sitting on the stairs if she had seen his wallet fall or had taken and she adamantly denied having seen the wallet or picked it up. The victim however stated that he believed that his wallet had fallen out while carrying his items into his house and that the suspect had picked up his wallet.
Officers accompanied by the victim, responded to the suspect’s location and there asked her again if she had picked up the victim’s wallet. The victim stated to officers that she did not take the victim’s wallet and that officers were free to search her if they wanted. Officers at that point advised the suspect that if she had the victim’s wallet and willingly returned it that the victim would not press charges. The suspect denied having the victim’s wallet and told officers to search her. Officers while conducting a search of the suspect’s person observed that her jacket was on the ground next to her and frisked the jacket. Upon finding the victim’s wallet in the victim’s jacket, the suspect exclaimed, “Oh, you got me!” The suspect was told that she was under arrest for the larceny of the victim’s wallet at which point she jumped up and attempted to run from officers. Officers pursued the suspect and upon catching her she physically resisted officers’ efforts to place her in handcuffs.
The suspect, Lakeisha Drayden, 33 of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Larceny.
