Yesterday morning around 11:42AM, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force (Gang Unit) responded t0 154 Welles Ave. in Dorchester to execute an outstanding arrest warrant for a wanted suspect based on information received that the wanted suspect was possibly staying at this location.

Officers arrived at this location and there observed the suspect standing at the rear of the house.  The suspect upon observing officers ran into the house and slammed the door behind him to avoid arrest. Officers established a perimeter around the house and subsequently gained access to the house. A lengthy search of the house was conducted for the suspect whom officers knew to be in the house. After a long and detailed search for the suspect, he was discovered hiding inside a cardboard box in the basement of the house.

The suspect, Michael Lopes, 18 of Dorchester was arrested and charged with an outstanding warrant out of Boston Municipal Court for Carrying a Firearm without a License.
