Yesterday afternoon around 2:42PM, officers from District A-1 (Downtown Boston) Safe Street responded to a radio call to investigate a person at 365 Washington Street/The Jewelers’ Building.
On arrival, officers spoke to the store employee who reported that she was showing some earrings to a customer and when she turned away briefly the suspect walked out of the store. The victim then reported that she noticed that the set of earrings she was showing the customer was missing. At this point the victim pursued the suspect and told him that he had to return to the store because the earrings that he was looking at were gone.
The officers conducted a threshold inquiry of the suspect, who was on scene, and after a few questions, the suspect conceded that he had stolen the earrings and told officers that he had secreted the earrings in his buttocks. The suspect then reached into his boxers and retrieved the earrings from between his buttocks and placed the earrings on the counter. The suspect after retrieving the earrings stated to officers, “You better arrest me, ‘cause I need to learn a lesson.
The suspect, Adam J. Cassino, 24, of South Boston was arrested and charged with Larceny Over $250.00.
