DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SUNDAY, JULY 11, 2010

VICTIM HELPS POLICE ARREST PURSE SNATCHER  

At about 2:20am, on Saturday, July 10, 2010, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at the corner of Washington and Oak Streets.  While in route to that location, officers learned that the victim, while still on the phone with 911 operations, was following the suspect.  The victim stated that she was following a 5\’2\’\’ black male who was wearing a brown shirt with the #32 on it. The victim further stated that the suspect was travelling along Marginal Road towards Shawmut Street. Responding officers located both the victim and the suspect in the area of Herald and Shawmut Streets. Officers spoke to the victim who stated that the suspect forcefully ripped her purse off of her shoulder and then fled on foot. The victim stated that she followed the suspect several blocks yelling at him the whole time to stop. While following behind the suspect, the victim says that she observed suspect drop some of her money. The victim says that she retrieved all of the bills and continued following the suspect.

After the victim positively identified the suspect, police arrested Edward Pollard, 43, of Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery.

 CAR STOP LANDS ONE IN POLICE CUSTODY FOR ILLEGAL GUN POSSESSION 

At about 10:50pm, on Saturday, July 10, 2010, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) conducted a traffic stop in the area of 217 Washington Street after observing a motor vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign.

With the car stopped, officers approached both sides of the car. While approaching, officers observed the passenger moving in such a way as if to suggest he was trying to hide something. When asked if there were any weapons inside the vehicle, the passenger stated, “No.” While talking to the passenger, officers noted that the individual appeared to be nervous. Fearing the presence of a weapon, officers asked the passenger to exit the car. Upon being asked to exit the car, the passenger stated, “Wait. There is a weapon right underneath me.” After the passenger was removed from the car, officers observed and took possession of a silver colored firearm that was sitting on the front seat of the car. When asked to produce a license to carry a firearm, the suspect stated that he did not have one.

Officers arrested Alexander Mojica, 21, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.
