CAR STOP LANDS FIVE IN JAIL FOR THE UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF BOOZE  

At about 12:30am, on Saturday, July 3, 2010, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) were on patrol when they observed a motor vehicle travelling at an unreasonable rate of speed in the area of Western Ave and Birmingham Pkwy. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. With the car stopped, officers observed five occupants inside the car.  While talking to the operator, officers were able to detect or smell an odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. When asked if anyone had been drinking, none of the occupants responded. When asked if anyone was 21 years of age or older, again, nobody replied.  Officers were able to see and seize several bottles of alcohol in plain view within the car. As a result, officers arrested the driver and four passengers and charged all five with the Unlawful Possession of Alcohol. The operator’s motor vehicle was towed for safe keeping.

POLICE ARREST ONE FOR URINATING IN PUBLIC 

At about 12:06am, on Saturday, July 3, 2010, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) were on patrol in the area of Surface Street when the observed a male urinating in public. Given the heavy flow of pedestrian traffic, officers stopped their cruiser and instructed the urinator to discontinue his stream and move along. However, instead of discontinuing his activities, the suspect turned around and stated, “(Expletive) you! I’m trying to pee here.” 

Officers arrested Joseph Salim, 37, of Revere and charged him with Open & Gross Lewdness. 

DETAIL OFFICER ARRESTS TWO FOR REFUSING TO STAY AWAY 

At about 1:45am, on Saturday, July 3, 2010, an officer performing a paid detail in the area of 146 Seaport Blvd was approached by employees of the Atlantic Beer Garden who stated that they had ejected two patrons who were now refusing to leave the premise. According to the employees, the individuals had been asked to leave after harassing and verbally disrespecting Beer Garden personnel. Upon approaching the individuals, officers quickly noted that the individuals appeared to be heavily intoxicated. When the officer attempted to speak to the suspects, the suspects began to laugh and verbally disparage the officers.  When the officers instructed the individuals to leave the area, the suspects remained. 

Officers arrested Richard Sorenson, 29, of Newton and Todd McNamara, 32, of Auburndale and charged both with Being Disorderly.
