WHY: This initiative is a collaborative effort to ensure the proper disposal of expired or unused medication that has the potential to be abused or harmful to the environment. This program is to assist individuals in restricting teen access to harmful prescription narcotics. It also provides an opportunity to safely dispose of these hazardous materials by keeping them out of the water supply. Too often individuals dispose of such medication by flushing and therefore potentially exposing them to the water supply. We are going green!
INSTRUCTIONS: Community members interested in participating are asked to do the following: – Black out personal information on pill bottles, but leave the name of the medication. If not in bottles, place in sealable plastic bags. Put all Sharps in Sharps Containers or Sturdy Bottles.
