Commissioner’s Commendations for Jerry Suarez

On April 15, Jerry Suarez was awarded  a Commissioner’s Commendation. 

About 09:55 A.M. a call came in to Communications Equipment Operator Jerry Suarez about an armed robbery and need for an ambulance on Kilmarnock Street.  CEO Suarez realized the need for a quick police response and medical attention and connected the call to EMS. 

CEO Suarez remained on on the line while the hysterical caller spoke with EMS.  CEO Suarez was able to ascertain that there had been an armed  robbery involving two suspects and two firearms with civilians injured.  The at-large armed suspects were an immediate threat to police and citizens.  

CEO Suarez\’s ability to multi-task ensured that both police and medical attention were promtly dispatched.  It took CEO Suarez about 52 seconds to get information to the dispatcher regarding the description and nature of the call. 

CEO Suarez\’s quick actions of retrieving and forwarding this pertinent information resulted in the arrest of an armed and dangerous suspect, the recovery of two firearms, and the stolen money.

CEO Suarez\’s calm professionalism under extreme stress and urgency was an invaluable asset that brought this situation, which endangered both police officers and citizens of Boston, to a swift successful conclusion. 

For his quick and dedicated efforts CEO Jerry Suarez was therefore awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation.
