DAILY INCIDENTS FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 15, 2010

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT WANTED FOR STABBING INCIDENT NEAR POLICE HEADQUARTERS

At about 4:27am, on Saturday, April 3, 2010, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in the area of Boston Police Headquarters. On arrival, officers observed and located an individual suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound. The victim was transported to the Brigham & Women’s Hospital where he was treated for life threatening injuries.

 As a result of a thorough and detailed investigation, detectives were able to identify the individual wanted in connection with the stabbing. With the suspect identified, detectives sought and secured an arrest warrant in the name of the suspect.

 On Wednesday, April 14, 2010, officers located and observed the suspect in the area of 34 Annunciation Road. As a result, officers arrested Luis Montanez, 24, of Boston and charged him with Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife).

 OFFICER PERFORMING A PAID DETAIL HELPS IN THE ARREST OF AN UNARMED ROBBER

 At about 9:03pm, on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, officers from Area D-4 (South End) received a radio call for an unarmed robbery in the area of Commonwealth Ave and Arlington Street. While en route to the call, officers received additional information from an officer performing a paid detail relative to the suspect’s description. Specifically, the detail officer was able to provide the suspect’s description. The detail officer described the suspect as a white male with a moustache wearing a black North Face coat, blue jeans, and white sneakers. The detail officer was the first to respond to the scene after hearing a woman scream. While making his way to the disturbance, the detail officer observed the suspect fleeing the scene on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the detail officer was able to catch up to and detain the suspect in the area of 17 Arlington Street.

Responding officers spoke to the victim who stated that she was carrying her purse in her left hand when an unknown person came from behind her, grabbed the purse and ran.

 After the victim positively identified the suspect, officers arrested  William Melton, 32, of Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery
