UPDATE: Two Suspects Charged In Connection with the Homicide of 36 Year Old Charles Cantave

On March 29, 2010 at approximately 10:50am, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to the rear of 451 Washington Street for a person shot. On arrival, officers located a male inside a car in the rear of 451 Washington Street suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim, who was pronounced at the scene, was identified as 36-year-old Charles Cantave of Hyde Park.

The Boston Police Homicide Unit in conjunction with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force and officers and detectives from District C-11 and B-3 actively investigated the facts and circumstance of this incident. After developing sufficient evidence, homicide detectives applied for and were granted murder warrants for Cornelius Evans, 35, of Boston and Mario H. Burns, 37, of Boston.

Last week Mario Burns was charged with Being an Accessory after the Fact for his role in the murder of Mr. Cantave and today those charges were upgraded.

Both individuals will be arraigned tomorrow morning in Dorchester Court. Both individuals are currently in custody on other charges.
