NO FREE RIDE…MAN ARRESTED AFTER ROBBING TAXI DRIVER
On Friday, January 15, 2010, at approximately 3:30am, Boston Police Officers assigned out of Area D-4 (South End – Lower Roxbury), responded to a call for a cab driver being robbed in the area of Tremont Street & Lenox Street.
Officers arrived in the area and located the victim cab driver. He informed officers that he picked up a male fare in the area of Jackson Square. He then drove the individual to the area of Tremont Street & Lenox Street. The driver informed the male suspect of the amount owed and the two began exchanging currency. The suspect quickly grabbed the driver’s money as he attempted to make change. A description of the suspect was then given and relayed to responding officers. The cab driver stated the suspect was last seen fleeing from the Lenox & Tremont Street area.
The cab driver then began driving around the general area in attempts to locate the male suspect. While doing so, he observed two private security guards that he informed of the situation. The guards immediately requested the assistance of the BPD and began searching for the suspect. Shortly thereafter, the guards observed an individual fitting the description walking through the parking lot of 888 Tremont Street. The security guards detained the suspect until BPD Officers arrived.
The suspect admitted to taking a cab ride and was positively identified by the cab driver who robbed him. An amount of United States Currency was located on the suspect and the amount stolen from the driver was documented and then given back to the taxi driver.
Officers arrested Ramon Garcia, 37, of Hyde Park on the charges of Unarmed Robbery.
This situation illustrates the working relationships between the many Law Enforcement agencies and Security Companies within the City of Boston. Without the assistance of the Guards there may have been the possibility of this defendant eluding capture and continuing his illegal activities.

BPD Officers Ezekiel & Officer Lundbohm should also be recognized for their willingness and ability to forge working relationships with various agencies for the overall good of the City.
UNDERCOVER PROSTITUTION STING LANDS ONE IN CUSTODY
Within recent time, the City of Boston has been experiencing various individuals participating in the crime of prostitution in the area of Washington Street, Berkeley Street and Harrison Avenue.
As a solution to this problem, Boston Police Officers assigned to Area D-4 (South End, Lower Roxbury & the Back Bay), conducted an undercover sting targeting street level prostitutes. Detectives working in an undercover capacity continued to monitor this immediate area during the early morning hours on January 15, 2010.
A black female was observed on East Berkeley Street believed to be involved in street level prostitution. One of the undercover detectives engaged this individual in conversation where she offered to perform a sexual act for a fee.
Based on the Officers knowledge of the area, the female’s actions and statements, she was placed into custody on the prostitution charge of Sex for a Fee. She was identified as Nekia Cecilia Grayson, 28, of Roxbury.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTING TO JUMP THROUGH WINDOW
On Wednesday, January 13, 2010, Boston Police Officers, assigned out of Area C-11 (Dorchester), received a call from the Massachusetts State Police stating they had just received a 911 call from a woman crying requesting help. The Massachusetts State Police determined the call was coming from 39 Topliff Street, Dorchester before the call was terminated.
C-11 (Dorchester) officers responded to 35 Topliff Street and entered the first floor common hallway. Officers then knocked on the first floor apartment door to which it was opened by a shirtless black male. Through the open door, a crying black female was observed standing behind the male. She informed officers, “that’s him…he hit and kicked me.” Officers entered the apartment and ordered the suspect to step away from the female. The suspect became enraged and approached the female with clinched fists and stated, “&#@* that…I didn’t touch you.” The officers then took hold of the suspect to prevent the female from being assaulted further. The officers also noticed the female was obviously pregnant. They later learned that she was six months pregnant with the suspect’s unborn baby.
Officers then attempted to place the suspect into custody on the Domestic Assault & Battery charge when a violent struggle ensued. The suspect continued to reach at his waistband and stated, “I’m not going to jail, shoot me!” While attempting to handcuff the suspect, he smashed his head through the glass window. The suspect was attempting to jump through the window and got out as far as his mid-section. Additional officers arrived on scene and stood below the window in case the suspect was able to break free from the officers holding him in. The suspect yelled to the officers below, “Shoot me, shoot me!”
Officers were able to pull the suspect back into the room and place him into custody. A silver handgun was then removed from the suspect’s waistband. It was later determined that the firearm was a replica and not a functional firearm.
Officers learned that the suspect is the father of the victim’s four children and they were celebrating the birthday of one of the kids throughout the day. At one point, the suspect became angry and violent towards the victim. His anger progressed to the point of the victim being punched and kicked. It should be noted that all four children were present during the altercation(s). The victim attempted to phone the police several times but the suspect continued to take the phone from her and remove the battery. The suspect removed his belt and struck the victim several times and refused to allow her to leave the apartment.
The victim was treated by Boston EMS and transported to Brigham’s and Woman’s Hospital. The victim and her unborn baby are expected to make a full recovery.
Officers arrested Jerry Lewis Blue, 29 of Roxbury on the charges of Aggravated Assault & Battery (on a pregnant person), Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property and Resisting Arrest.
