This morning around 4:15am, officers from District D-14 (Alston and Brighton) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery at 241 Market Street in Brighton (Tedeschi’s).
On arrival, officers spoke to the store clerk who reported that a suspect, described as a 20 year-old black male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black hat with a black and blue backpack attempted to rob the store by displaying a firearm. The suspect, after brandishing the weapon, demanded the clerk put money into his backpack. The clerk refused the suspect’s demands based on his belief that the firearm was a replica and the suspect fled out of the store without any money.
Detectives, shortly after the incident, initiated an intense and thorough investigation into the facts and circumstances of the incident in an effort to try to identify and arrest the suspect involved. Based on information gathered and evidence collected at the scene, officers were able to identify and arrest suspect, Henry Nelson, 18, of Brighton around 1:00pm today and charged the suspect with Attempted Armed Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
The suspect has not been connected to any of the other similar incidents in the Brighton/Allston area but detectives are investigating to determine if there is a connection. At this time, it is believed that the suspect may end up being connected to some of the other incidents.
