Two Arrested for Stolen Car after Foot PursuitYesterday morning around 2:30AM, officers from The Governor’s Auto Theft Task Force (comprised of Boston Police officers and Mass State troopers) arrested suspects, Josefina Santiago, 39, and Nestor Fuentes, 40, both of Dorchester and charged them both with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Use without Authority, and Resisting Arrest. In addition, suspect, Santiago was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle after Revocation, and Possession of Burglarious Tools.
Officers were patrolling the area of Southern and New England Avenues when they observed a car that was on the stolen car list. Officers confirmed the status of the car and broadcast the location and direction of the stolen car. Officers, in an unmarked car, followed behind the suspects as they continued to loop around the neighborhood. Suspects, in the area, of Woodrow and Johnson Terrace abandoned the car and took off on foot.
Officers from the GATTF assisted by officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) pursued the suspect and caught them after a brief foot chase. Both suspect struggled vigorously with officers before they were handcuffed and placed under arrest. The vehicle had been reported stolen on October 6, 2008 in Boston.
Painted But Still Recognized
Last night around 9:30PM, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to the area of 251 Heath St. for a victim who was following a suspect who was riding his stolen bicycle.
On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated to officers that his bicycle was stolen about three weeks ago while at Northeastern University and he that he had reported it stolen ago to Northeastern University police. The suspect then pointed out to officers a suspect who was riding his bicycle.
Officers stopped the suspect who was riding the bike and when questioned about the bike the suspect stated that he had gotten it from his brother. The victim identified the bike by pointing out several distinguishable unique items on the bike despite the fact that the frame had been painted. Based on the information received from the victim and the suspect’s answers to officers’ questions, officers formed the opinion that the suspect had either stolen the bike or was in receipt of a stolen bike. The suspect, Henok Z. Tedla, 23, of Jamaica Plain was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property.
Warrant Suspect Arrested Packing a Pistol
Yesterday, Tuesday, October 6, 2008 around 12:45PM, officers from the Fugitive Unit arrested suspect, Kevin A. Taylor, 19, of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, outstanding warrants for Accessory after the Fact for Murder, Kidnapping, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery, Reckless Child Endangerment and Witness Intimidation.
Officers initially responded to the area of Capen and Morton Streets to locate the suspect and place him under arrest for the above noted warrants. While in the area, officers observed a taxicab stopped in front of 85 Capen Street. Shortly after taking note of the cab, officers observed a male whose appearance was consistent with that of the warrant suspect enter the cab carrying a baby, followed by a woman who also entered the cab. The cab pulled off with the suspect, baby and woman followed by officers. A short distance later, officers pulled over the cab to further investigate and determine whether the passenger was indeed the suspect. The cab was stopped in front of 85 Capen St. and the male passenger removed for further investigation. A pat frisk was conducted of the male passenger during which officers recovered a loaded revolver pistol on his person.
The suspect was then positively identified as the wanted suspect for the outstanding warrants and charged accordingly with the firearm found on his person along with the outstanding warrants.
