LADDER CLIMBING SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR DOING MORE THAN “CHECKING LIGHT BULBS”At about 10:24pm, on Sunday, September 15, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person breaking into an apartment in the area of 10 Bucknam Street. On arrival, officers spoke to victims who stated that a white male with a baldhead had just broken into their apartment. According to the victims, the suspect had used a ladder to break into their apartment located on the 3rd floor of the above address. When the suspect entered their apartment and observed the tenants, he stated, “I’m just checking light bulbs.” When the victims began yelling at him, the suspect fled the location. A search of the area enabled officers to locate an individual matching the description of the suspect.
When this individual was returned to the scene of the incident, the victims positively identified him as the suspect who broke into their apartment. Officers arrested Shaun Kelly, 25, of Boston and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Residence (nighttime).
TOO MUCH TO DRINK AND TOO MUCH TO SAY LANDS ONE IN POLICE CUSTODY
At about 12:15am, on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for threats at 49 Temple Place (the Ivy Bar). On arrival, officers spoke to employees of the establishment who stated that they made a decision to stop serving a customer because he appeared to have had too much to drink. When they informed the customer that they could no longer serve him alcohol, the customer began cursing and yelling. According to bar employees, the customer stated, “I am going to kill you.” When the customer was escorted out of the establishment, he began kicking and pounding on the front door. Officers observed several small dents on the door.
When officers arrived, the suspect was standing across the street from the bar. Officers arrested Mike O’Connell, 37, of Boston and charged him with the Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property and Threats.
