POLICE ARREST SEVEN FOR RESISTING ARREST AND ASSAULTING POLICE IN DORCHESTERAt about 12:30am, on Saturday, September 6, 2008, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force were on patrol in the area of Hendry Street when they observed several individuals walking in and out of a yard connected to a vacant dwelling. Given the high number of drug-related incidents in this particular area and the fact that the individuals were trespassing on the property, officers approached the individuals in order to conduct a field interrogation. Upon approaching the group, officers recognized one of the individuals from past interactions. Officers further recalled that this individual was known to carry a firearm. Given this prior knowledge, officers, for their own safety, attempted to pat frisk this individual for the presence of a firearm. As officers were in the process of frisking suspect #1 (BILLIE SINGLETARY), a second individual, herein referred to as suspect #2 (SALVATORE GRAY), began screaming obscenities at the officers. Specifically, suspect #2 yelled, ”F*#k you .. we don’t want you down here.” While suspect #2 was verbally berating the officers, several more individuals began to move towards the scene.
At this point, officers called for additional units and instructed the crowd to disperse. While dispersing, the suspects continued to verbally berate the officers. Suspect #2 stated, “Get the f*#k off our street.” At the same time, a third individual, suspect #3 (KOREY GRAY), ran towards the officers with his fists clenched. Suspect #3 demanded that officers, ”Throw one.” As officers attempted to take suspect #3 into custody, a physical altercation ensued. As officers were in the process of restraining suspect #3, a fourth individual, suspect #4 (KEITH GRAY) jumped into the altercation. In an effort to free suspect #3, suspect #4 struck and kicked several officers. In addition to the suspect #4, several other individuals, suspect #5 (ISAIAH GRAY), suspect #6 (KRISTIN WILSON) and suspect #7 (JANINE BARROS) either interfered with or assaulted the officers as they attempted to apprehend suspect #3.
Officers arrested seven suspects: Billie Singletary, 21, of Dorchester, Salvatore Gray, 30, of Roxbury, Korey Gray, 28, of Roxbury, Keith Gray, 31, of Dorchester, Isaiah Gray, 34, of Dorchester, Kristin Wilson, 30, of Dorchester, Janine Barros, 26, of Carlisle and charged all seven with Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Assault & Battery on a Police Officer.
SUSPECT STATING, “I’M NOT THE ONE,” PROVES TO BE JUST THAT WHEN IT COMES TO DISTRUBING THE PEACE
At about 2:30am, on Sunday, September 7, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) were monitoring nightclubs in the area of 290 Tremont Street. As the clubs were letting out, officers noted a disturbance in a near-by parking lot. Officers observed a motor vehicle parked in such a way that cars attempting to exit a parking lot could not get out. When officers asked the individual operating the motor vehicle to move, the individual began yelling and screaming at the officers. Specifically, the individual stated, “F*#k you. I’m not the one.” When the individual again refused to move his car, officers made him the one by arresting Fernando Corporan, 24, of Roxbury. Corporan was charged with Being a Disorderly Person. In the process of taking Corporan into custody, officers noted that the suspect appeared to be intoxicated given his glassy eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol emanating from his breath. As a result, the suspect was additionally charged with Operating Under the Influence (Alcohol).
POLICE ARREST FIVE FOR UNDERAGE DRINKING IN THE MISSION HILL AREA
At about 12:08am, on Sunday, September 7, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) were on directed patrol looking for parties involving underage drinking when they received a radio call for a loud party in the area of 812 Parker Street. On arrival, officers observed the lights on the first floor of the location quickly shut off. While waiting outside the location, officers could hear people moving about inside the apartment. Officers also heard an individual attempting to quiet the occupants. Officers then observed an individual approaching the location with a red cup in one hand and keg tap in the other. Officers arrested this individual and charged him with Being a Minor in Possession of Alcohol. Upon gaining entry into the apartment, officers observed four more individuals in possession of alcohol. As a result, officers arrested all four and charged them with Being Minors in Possession of Alcohol.
