Breaking and Entering Suspect Caught Despite Attempts to HideOn Sunday, July 13, at approximately 8:30 P.M., officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a report of breaking and entering in progress at 3 Alpine St.
On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that three black males had used a ladder to enter the building through a second floor window. As the officers approached the side of the building where witnesses directed them, the second floor lights were abruptly turned off. Officers observed an individual through a third floor window, but the individual did not respond to the officers.
Concerned that the occupants of the home were in jeopardy, officers entered the building through the front door. They could hear movement in the building, and they proceeded to knock on the third floor apartment door. A visibly nervous victim answered the door, and invited the officers into the apartment after officers observed him to be in apparent distress. The officers entered the apartment and discovered the three perpetrators hiding in a bedroom and bathroom of apartment three, and detained them.
The victim told the officers that the three men had forced their way into the apartment, telling him that they intended to hide there “til’ the cops leave”. The victim stated that he did not respond to the officers’ arrival at first due to his fear of the suspects.
The three suspects, Derrick G. Brown, 18 of Roxbury, Darell J. Rose, 19, of Somerville, and an a 16 year old juvenile from Roxbury were arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime.
Suspect Arrested for Shooting Incident at 164 Howard Avenue
Last night, Sunday, July 13, 2008, around 11:53PM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to 164 Howard Ave. for a person shot.
There, officers located the victim, a 19 year-old male, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center by ambulance for further medical attention while officers remained on-scene to further investigate the incident. While at the scene, an off-duty officer responded to the scene and made known that he had observed a small dark colored vehicle with two occupants driving erratically from the scene of the shooting. The off-duty officer further reported that he had observed the same car pull into the rear parking lot of 392 Columbia Road. Officers, on-scene, received the same description of the suspect’s car from witnesses as well as a similar direction of flight.
Officers immediately responded to the rear of 392 Columbia Rd. and there found an unoccupied car matching the description given by witnesses to the crime along with that given by the off-duty officer. Of note in the found suspect car, was a broken rear window, a white towel with bloodstains, along with a firearm with a stain consistent with blood on the handle. In addition, officers were able to follow a trail of blood from the car to an apartment in the building. As a follow up to the investigation, officers sent a unit to the unoccupied vehicle’s registered address.
An officer responded to the registered address of the suspect motor vehicle, and while responding observed a speeding motor vehicle came to a screeching halt in front of the same address. The responding officer immediately exited his car and approached the car where he observed one of the occupants to be bleeding with blood on his hands and t-shirt.
All occupants were initially detained until other units arrived at which time the bleeding passenger was transported to the hospital for further treatment. Based on information developed during the time that the bleeding passenger was in the hospital, he was placed under arrest once released from the hospital.
Suspect, Duante H. Beal, 20, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Aggravated Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Ammunition, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Discharging a Firearm Within 500’ of a Dwelling.
Stealing Food Gets Suspect Arrested for 26 Outstanding Warrants
At approximately 6:48PM, on Friday, July 11, 2008, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to 777 Morrissey Blvd./Lambert’s for an assault and battery in progress. Officers were advised en route that an employee of Lambert’s had been assaulted by a suspect who fled the scene in a blue truck.
On arrival, officers observed that an off-duty officer had stopped the described motor vehicle. Officers spoke to the victim who reported that she confronted a female who was accompanied by several children who attempted to walk out of the store without paying for their food. The victim stated that the child handed over her salad but the adult woman just continued walking out of the store with the salad. The victim stated that she then approached the suspect again about paying for her food when she threw the metal container with the salad in her face and punched her and fled. Officers further investigated the incident and learned that the individual in the car was not the suspect but someone who had been in her company.
Responding units after a brief search located the suspect in front of the CVS pharmacy. The suspect was brought back to the scene where the victim positively identified her. Upon being placed under arrest, the suspect alleged to officers that she was pregnant and that her water had just broken. The suspect’s name was taken and she was transported to Boston Medical Center by ambulance for evaluation and treatment. There, the suspect refused medical treatment and evaluation leading medical personnel to believe that she indeed was not pregnant.
The suspect was returned to the district, and there after a brief investigation it was determined that she had 26 outstanding warrants ranging from Larceny Over $250, Possession of Class B to Escape from a Penal Institution. In addition to the outstanding warrants, the suspect, Christal C. Campbell, 39, of Dorchester was charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery.
