“GUESS MY SUMMER’S GONE .. RIGHT?” At about 10:00pm, on Saturday, May 24, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a shots fired call in the area of Winthrop and Cleveland Streets. As officers were responding to the area, officers observed a motor vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the motor vehicle. While approaching the motor vehicle, officers observed one of the occupants in possession of a plastic bag containing several pills of ecstasy (a Class B narcotic). Given these findings, officers arrested James Dobson, 25, of Chelsea and charged him with the Possession of a Class B Drug.
While conducting a pat-frisk of a 2nd occupant of the motor vehicle, officers discovered that the individual was in possession of a firearm. Specifically, officers discovered the firearm in the suspect’s waist area. When asked to produce a license to carry, the suspect stated that he did not have one. Suspect further stated, “Guess my summer\’s gone .. right?\” Officers arrested Justin Young, 21, of Roxbury and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with Altered Serial Numbers.
CAR VANDALS ARRESTED IN CHARLESTOWN
At about 2:25am, on Saturday, may 24, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a fight in the area of 300 Main Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that he was attempting to park his car when a group of kids surrounded his motor vehicle and stated, “Move your car!” In short time, a bottle was thrown at the motor vehicle and one of the suspects brandished a knife. When officers arrived on the scene, the suspects immediately took off on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend one of the suspects. After being positively identified by the victim, officers arrested Brendan Watson, 19, of Charlestown and charged him with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife) and Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property (over $250.00).
BIKE RIDING, GUN POSSESSING SUSPECT ARRESTED IN ROXBURY
At about 12:10am, on Sunday, May 25, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 79 Dewey Street. While en route to the call, a description of the suspect was broadcast over Channel 3 of the police radio. According to the description, the suspect was a black male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt while riding a bicycle. In short time, officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect. As officers approached the suspect, the suspect fled on his bike. After a short pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the suspect in the area of Howard Avenue. While struggling to the place the suspect in handcuffs, officers observed that the suspect was in possession of a firearm. After the suspect was cuffed, officers recovered a loaded black firearm from the suspect’s waist area. Officers arrested Nathaniel Rivers, 20, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.
