ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO GUN ARRESTAt about 5:28 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed along Greenbrier Street. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the motor vehicle. As officers were approaching the car, one of the occupants, the passenger, exited the car in an effort to escape. While pursuing the suspect on foot, officers observed the suspect clutching at his waist area in a way so as to suggest the suspect was carrying a weapon. While still pursuing the suspect, officers observed the suspect discard an object. The thrown object turned out to be a silver-colored firearm. After running down the suspect, a search of the suspect produced an undisclosed amount of marijuana. Officers arrested DeMarcus Kirkland, 23, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition and Possession of a Class D Drug (marijuana). Officers also arrested the operator of the motor vehicle, Bobby Nelson, 23, of Brockton and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle on a Suspended License.

At about 12:17am, on Saturday, March 1, 2008, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a loud party in the area of 41 Shannon Street. On arrival, officers could hear loud music emanating from the above-mentioned address. While officers approached the address, several neighbors approached the officers to tell them that the party had been going on for hours. Officers then knocked on the door and asked to speak to the occupants of the apartment. When one individual stepped forward, officers explained to the individual that the party needed to end because it was causing a disturbance to the peace. To which, the individual sarcastically replied, “Yeah .. whatever.” When the individual again refused to shut down the party, officers arrested Douglas Linbald, 21, of Brighton and charged him with Being the Keeper of a Disorderly House. During the booking process, the suspect told officers, “I’m sorry .. I know I was being a (donkey).”
LATE NIGHT GRAFFITI ANTICS LAND FOUR IN POLICE CUSTODY
At about 3:40am, on Sunday, March 2, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) observed four individuals walking in the area of Dartmouth Street. When officers passed by the individuals, officers noticed paint splattering on their outer clothing. Given the high incidence of graffiti in the area, officers stopped in order to speak to the suspects. While speaking to the suspects, officers further observed paint on the hands and shoes of all four individuals. When asked if they were in possession of spray paint, the individuals stated, “Yes.” A search of the suspects, specifically their back packs, enabled officers to recover approximately 41 cans of spray paint. A search of the immediate area for evidence of freshly painted graffiti enabled officers to locate several items. Officers arrested Nathaniel Lounder, 17, of Keene, NH, Alexander Reilly, 18, of Boston, a 16 year-old from Cumberland, ME, a 16 year-old from Stoddard, NH and charged all four with Destruction of Personal Property and Damage to Property by Graffiti.
