OFFICERS HELP DELIVER BABY IN EAST BOSTON At about 12:45am, on Monday, March 3, 2008, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) were on patrol in the area of Neptune Road and Bennington Street when they were flagged down by a Massport Police officer who then directed them to a motor vehicle where a woman was in labor. Officers spoke to the woman’s husband who stated that his wife was in labor with contractions two minutes apart. As officers were speaking to the husband, the woman’s water broke. Officers then helped the woman deliver her baby. When the baby was born, officers collected the baby in a blanket and made sure the baby’s passageway was clear for breathing. Mother and child were transported in good health to Mass General Hospital.
CAR BREAKERS ARRESTED IN WEST ROXBURY
At about 3:04am, on Sunday, March 2, 2008, officers from Area E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a group of kids looking into motor vehicles in the area of Centre and Ardale Streets. On arrival, officers observed three individuals leaning against a motor vehicle. Officers frisked the suspects for weapons. As a result of the frisk, officers recovered a bottle of whiskey, a bottle of vodka and several id’s. None of the id’s belonged to the suspects. While officers were questioning the suspects, a witness approached them. According to the witness, he observed the kids looking into cars. While conducting their investigation, officers discovered that one of the confiscated id’s belonged to the witness. Officers arrested two 16 year-olds and a 15 year-old from Boston and charged all three with Possession of Alcoholic Beverage by a Person Under 21and Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle (night time).
FOOTPRINTS IN SNOW LEAD POLICE TO SUSPECT IN DORCHESTER
At about 2:40am, on Saturday, March 1, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a commercial alarm for broken glass at the Dorchester house at1353 Dorchester Avenue. On arrival, officers discovered a broken window. Upon looking inside the location, officers further observed more broken glass. The broken glass was from eyeglass display case that had been shattered. Officers further observed a black metal pipe lying on the ground near the broken window and footprints in the snow leading down Dorchester Avenue. As officers were following the footprints, officers observed and recovered several pairs of glasses. Officers then located an individual standing at the corner of Dorchester Avenue and Leedsville Street. Officers noted that the suspect was wearing shorts and bleeding from his right leg. When officers asked the suspect how he cut his leg, the suspect pushed officers in an attempt to flee. Officers arrested Jose Cepeda, 25, of Dorchester and charged him with Breaking & Entering (night time).
