SHOOTING INCIDENT AT WESTVIEW AND STRATTON STREETAt about 2:21am, on Monday, August 20, 2007, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan/North Dorchester) responded to a call for shots fired in the area of Westview and Stratton Streets. On arrival, officers observed four black males fleeing the area. Officers immediately stopped all four individuals. As officers were speaking to them, officers observed that one of the individuals was suffering from a gunshot wound. That individual, a 21 year-old black male, was rushed to Boston Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The remaining three individuals were questioned and released. Area B-3 Detectives will further investigate this incident.
MAN WITH A GUN ARRESTED IN ROXBURY
At about 6:13pm, on Sunday, August 20, 2007, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a man with a gun threatening employees at the New England Baptist Hospital at 125 Parker Hill Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that the suspect, Ronald Harper, approached her. According to the victim, she and the suspect were known to one another. The victim told officers that the suspect appeared to be drunk and was belligerent. While the victim and the suspect were exchanging words, a co-worker stepped in and asked the victim if everything was okay. At this point, the suspect turned towards this individual, lifted his shirt, revealing a gun, and was confrontational. The suspect then fled the hospital in a white motor vehicle. Officers soon located and stopped that motor vehicle at the intersection of Eustis and Albany Streets. Officers arrested Ronald Harper, 51, of Arlington, and charged him with Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). During a search of the suspect’s motor vehicle, officers located and recovered a silver handgun under the front passenger’s seat.
