BANK ROBBER ARRESTED IN THE SOUTH ENDAt about 3:17pm, on Friday, August 17, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a bank robbery at the Mercantile Bank at 1320 Washington Street. On arrival, officers were approached by a bank employee who stated that the suspect was in the process of exiting the bank. Officers then observed a black male, carrying a large amount of money in his right hand, making his way towards the exit. When officers approached this individual, the individual attempted to flee. Officers quickly subdued the suspect. Officers then spoke to a bank teller who stated the suspect walked up to her window and demanded money. According to the bank teller, the suspect yelled, \”give me the money or I’ll shoot this place up.” Officers arrested Frank Porter, 62, of Boston and charged him with Armed Robbery (Bank). No weapon was found on the suspect.
POOR SPORT ARRESTED AT FENWAY
At about 10:14pm, on Friday, August 17, 2007, detail officers working the Red Sox game were called to assist in the arrest of an individual who had thrown an object onto the playing field. Officers were informed that the individual was seen throwing a plastic Poland Spring water bottle in the area of the pitching mound. According to the suspect, he threw the water bottle in the direction of Red Sox reliever Eric Gagne because he was angry at the pitcher’s poor play. Said the suspect, “I was pissed because he blew the game.” Witnesses positively identified the suspect. The incident was also captured on video by Fenway Park security cameras. Officers arrested Gianno Lettieri, 35, of Marion and charged him with Disturbing a Public Assembly.
