BOSTON POLICE APPREHEND MURDER SUSPECT

On Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at approximately 7:23pm, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to Arbutus Street and Aston Street for reports of a person shot. On arrival officers located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries and was rushed into surgery. On July 10, 2007, the victim, Michael Wiggins, 22, of Roxbury succumbed to his injuries.After an exhaustive investigation surrounding the facts and circumstances of Mr. Wiggins’ murder, detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant yesterday charging Cornelius Brown, 33, of Dorchester with Murder.
This investigation was led by the Homicide Unit, with extensive co-operation from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, the Boston Police Fugitive and Apprehension Unit and officers and detectives of Area B-3.
