LARGE PARTY LEADS TO 4 ARRESTS IN MATTAPANAt about 11:45pm, on Saturday, August 4, 2007, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force were patrolling in the area of 22 Thane Street when officers observed a large crowd gathering in front of the aforementioned address. As officers were approaching the crowd, officers observed an individual clutching at his waist area as if he were carrying a firearm. When officers approached this individual, the individual ran into the crowd. After locating this individual, officers recovered a firearm from his person. Officers then arrested Nygell Jones, 28, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.
In addition to the above suspect, officers also observed another individual clutching at his waist area as if to conceal a firearm. When officers approached this individual, officers observed the individual reach into his pocket, pull out a black firearm and, then, drop it on the ground. Officers then observed the individual attempt to kick the firearm under a nearby motor vehicle. Officers quickly secured the firearm and apprehended the suspect. Officers arrested Caron Reese, 22, of Dorchester, and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.
As officers were effecting the arrest of the above suspects, a large crowd began to gather around the officers. In an effort to disrupt the arrest, two individuals began punching the officers. As a result, officers arrested David Williams, 23, of Dorchester and Joell Williams, 17, of Dorchester, and charged both with Assault & Battery on a Police Officer and Disorderly Conduct.
